X/Twitter Direct Messages (DM) are a secure and convenient way to share private content, including videos. While X has announced support for downloading videos from DM on Android and iOS in Jan 2024, it’s still being test for beta users only. X does not currently provide a download option for DM videos on the web or mobile app.
In this guide, we'll explore 4 proven ways to download X DM videos on desktop or mobile, covering third-party software, browser tools, and screen capture.

It's worth noting that videos sent via DM are often compressed (e.g. from 1080p to 720p) by Twitter to save bandwidth. If you feel the quality was downgraded, you can also ask the sender to share the original video file via a cloud link or other method.
