Download Google Drive Videos with Browser Developer tools

In the past, we could find the direct video download link in the browser’s developer tool, then download the video by right-clicking on it and selecting “Open in new tab”. But this trick has changed a bit in 2024, and now it can only download the video file (without sound) and the audio file separately, which means you’ll have to merge the video and audio files after downloading.

You can perform this method in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari and other popular browsers.

How it works:

1. Go to drive.google.com, double-click the desired video and play it.

2. Press F12 on your keyboard to open the browser developer tools panel, click the "Network” section and find some “videoplayback” files. Fresh the page if nothing appears.

3. Download the video file.

1. Type “video” in the filter, and sort the videoplayback files by Size.
2. Click on the largest videoplayback file and copy its Request URL from "https" all the way to the character before “range” (important step). The URL won’t open if we don't remove the last part starting from ‘range’.
3. Open the copied URL in a new tab, and the video should play in the window. Right click on the video and select “Save Video As” to download it.

4. Download the audio file.

1. Go back to the Network section, type “audio” this time to quickly filter the audio file from the results. Then just copy the request URL like how we copied the video URL.
2. Open the link in a new tab, right click on the audio and select “Save Audio As”.
